what your coach training school may not have told you
by Betska K-Burr

As Coaches, we fall into the category of “Helping Professionals”. Therefore we have joined the esteemed ranks of Doctors, Lawyers, Nurses, Counselors, Therapists, Psychiatrists and so on. Coaching is a blessing to this world!

What your Coach Training School may not have told you is this:

The law of the conservation of energy means that energy can neither be created or destroyed, only transformed … Whether we are coaching our Clients on goal achievement OR on serious heart issues, science has proven that receptors in the body are constricted due to emotion around the goal or issue. When our Clients are releasing their negative emotions these energetic molecules go into the environment around them. In the helping professions, the laws of quantum physics are in motion. In other words, as a Coach, you can take on those negative emotions (yes, even if telecoaching) and become very ill in mind, body and spirit. Therefore, it is critical that you know how to stay healthy by protecting your own electro magnetic field.”

Helping Professionals such as psychiatrists, physicians and lawyers have much higher suicide rates than the general public.1 As a Coach Training School we often train advanced coaches who have been coaching for awhile. Many of them have become very ill. One new student, who had been coaching in the oil and gas industry for 7 years, took on so much toxic emotional energy from her Clients that she became ill and had to take 3 years off from the coaching business. Yet, she had no idea what was wrong with her. I worked with her privately to bring her mind, body and spirit back into a healthy position.

The purpose of this article is:
1. to briefly educate on the field of quantum physics and biology as it relates to coaching.
2. to provide a few key protective measures to keep you healthy in mind, body and spirit.

Quantum Physics, Biology and Coaching:

Have you noticed that either during or after an emotional coaching session you become sad or frustrated – even angry? Have you noticed that you sometimes feel low in energy? Or, has your health been suffering? To discover the quantum physics behind this phenomenon we must first turn to biology. Neuroscientist Candace Pert, PhD has discovered “receptors” otherwise known as “molecules of emotion”. Her work explains that when Clients are “blocked” and cannot achieve a goal or overcome a challenge, receptors floating on the outside boundary or membrane of our cells are constricted. They have constricted because of some emotional event and the related emotions are stored in the receptors. As Coaches we will often assist our Clients in releasing these emotions. Once released these emotional energies leave the Client’s energy field. Studying the quantum physics side of the equation, the Coach and Coachee are in the same electro magnetic field and it is possible for the Coach to attract and absorb the energies. Later, as Coaches we may feel sad, sick or low in energy. This is one reason for the high suicide rate among helping professionals. They unknowingly take on this energy, don’t understand it and don’t know how to protect themselves.

Simple Protective Measures: (to order the full PDF document of “44 Protective Measures” see below)

  1. Self-coach daily to expel emotions using a FREE on-line award-winning tool www.TheBrainWalk.com.
  2. BEFORE each coaching session: female coaches imagine putting a bridal veil around your heart. For the macho (!) male coaches imagine placing a knight’s chainmail (like armor) around your heart.
  3. Keep your intent strong - that you do not wish to take on the emotions and energies of your Client.
  4. Meditate daily to keep your energy field and emotions as positive as possible.
